In true iflix form, the Company announced a series of landmark content deals with some of the region’s biggest media companies recently.
First, iflix partnered with Mediacorp to bring the best of Singapore’s content to the platform for free, including 500 hours’ worth of Mediacorp’s locally-produced English and Chinese language content, that is now available across iflix’s Asian footprint. These include memorable classics and recent blockbusters, including award-winning Chinese classics such as The Unbeatables III, The Little Nyonya and C.L.I.F., in addition to celebrated English titles such as Code of Law and Phua Chu Kang.
Mediacorp will also simulcast the second season of its English long-form drama KIN, so that iflix viewers can enjoy the drama at the same time as Singapore viewers. Season one of KIN is also available for users to binge-watch at one go.
Next, iflix entered into a joint-venture with Japan’s largest media conglomerate and comedy powerhouse, Yoshimoto Kogyo, which means customers across Southeast Asia will have access to some of the best programming from Japan including animation, movies, variety shows and comedy. Not only that, but iflix will also adapt popular content formats out of Japan for the SEA audience as part of the deal too.
Not to be outdone, at APOS 2019, iflix welcomed South Korean media giant, JTBC, to the family. As part of the deal JTBC’s most popular content will be featured on iflix for free, including beloved South Korean dramas Welcome to Waikiki 2 and The Wind Blows, as well as top variety shows such as Men on a Mission and Chef and My Fridge, just one month following their Korean broadcasts. In addition to premium catch-up TV, JTBC will also contribute an extensive library, exceeding 500 hours, of top-rated dramas, including SKY Castle, Cleaning with Passion Now, ID: Gangnam Beauty and Ms. Hammuribi, to iflix which will also be available to all iflix viewers for free
And if that wasn’t enough, Media Prima will make more than 1,000 hours of content from its library available via a dedicated tonton-branded channel on iflix’s platform to boost Malaysia’s local content offering. The landmark deal is an expansion of the companies’ previous collaborations which include the successful catch-up run of the hit drama Nur 2 through Media Prima’s Primeworks Studios. It also includes plans for the commissioning of new content and drama co-productions with iflix.
And last but certainly not least, MNC, Indonesia’s largest media company, has been enthusiastically welcomed into the fold. The recently announced content partnership will allow iflix to procure 10,000 hours of content from MNC’s top programs for immediate exclusive streaming on iflix just hours following their television broadcast, bringing the best of Indonesian television online for the first time. All iflix viewers in Indonesia will now have direct access to MNC’s most popular titles, including Dunia Terbalik, Cinta Yang Hilang, and Top Tukang Ojek Pengkolan. This partnership is further deepened with MNC’s investment in iflix and the appointment of David Fernando Audy, CEO of MNC, to iflix’s Advisory Board.
